The Delaware River Scenic Byway

The proposed data center’s location is on Martins Creek Belvidere Highway. According to the LMBT Martins Creek Belvidere Highway is The Delaware River Scenic Byway was designated by the state as a Pennsylvania State Byway. This is a large significant portion of LMBT’s history that needs to be preserved these include:
• A percentage of historic buildings remain intact. Many of these retain their original scenic landscape context. 4 of which are located directly on Martins Creek Belvidere Highway including:
- The Garrison Property
- The Shumaker Property
- The Fries Property
- The Beck Property
- The Butz Property (located on Gravel Hill Road )
• A number of potential Lenni-Lenape archeological sites still exist in the Township.
• The first “industry” in Lower Mount Bethel, agriculture, has evolved continuously through history and remains the most prominent land use.
• Many of the Township’s historic buildings are significant reminders of the industry that brought people to the area.
Now is the time to preserve this historic area before the history is lost forever.
